Windows 10: Does microsoft roll up security patches?

I had my windows update paused for the last ~25 days. So I just went to update today and got the 2018-07 cumulative update available (KB4340917) and the 2018-08 cumulative update (KB4343909). When I dled the update and checked the update history, the 2018-08 worked and the 07 failed. I then checked for updates again and there was none available. DOes this mean the 07 updates were updated with the 08 cumulative update?

Huge Flaw in IE: Microsoft scrambles to make patch

Today, Security firm Secunia announced that there was a security hole in Microsoft's Internet Explorer. This hole could allow hackers to gain control of users' computers and turn them into zombies that send out spam, or corrupt thier hard drive. Microsoft is quickly trying to make a patch for this issue, but until then they are suggesting that people use Firefox. Yes, you heard right. They are suggesting people to use Firefox.

Jan 10th Patch Tuesday: 7 Patches On The Way

Microsoft has just released their Security Bulletin Advance Notification for January 2012. This is pre-release information about the Windows patches due to be rolled out on Microsoft Update on Tuesday 10th January. In it, there is one critical and six important updates. There are three remote code execution patches (one critical); two information disclosures and one privilege escalation. There is also one "security feature bypass", which is interesting, because it's not a description seen before. It's not hard to get an idea of what this fixes, but we await the release of the official bulletins for the full description of what security feature is fixed.

All versions of Windows have patches coming up, but some of those patches don't apply to particular versions of Windows and the notification lists which Windows version gets which bulletin/patch. At the same time, Microsoft is releasing an updated version of it's Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. Full details here

Oh that's right, I forgot. Not a single other OS in existence receives regular security patches and updates...
