Windows 10: Does microsoft suggest slmgr command to delete fake Activation Keys?

Hi, I recently brought a used laptop, But I found out that it didn't have a activation key windows 10.I tried using slmgr and make up a fake activation key. I thought it was okay but then I did some research on the internet and found out that it's illegal to use fake activation keys, As soon as I found out I tried deleting the fake key number by using slmgr upk. I just want to know if My laptop is safe now and does Microsoft recommend using slmgr to delete fake actiavation keys?.Thanks.

Unable to Activate Win 8

I was about to suggest run CMD as Admin and then do a "slmgr -ipk xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx" activation...does anyone know if that works with win8?

Sorry for the delayed response.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Open command prompt in admin mode.
• Type the command slmgr -upk and hit enter. This will uninstall the product key within the system.
• Now type the command slmgr -ipk <product key>, where
  <product key> is the Windows 8.1 product key with spaces between each set. This will install the Product key.
• Next, type the command slmgr -ato. This command is to activate the product key installed.
• Exit command prompt and restart the computer.
