  2. Windows 10 32 bit Physical Address Extension

    Hi,

I would like to inform that: Physical Address Extension (PAE) is a processor feature that enables x86 processors to access more than 4 GB of physical memory on capable versions of Windows. Certain 32-bit versions of Windows Server running on x86-based systems
can use PAE to access up to 64 GB or 128 GB of physical memory, depending on the physical address size of the processor.

Windows automatically enables PAE if DEP is enabled on a computer that supports hardware-enabled DEP, or if the computer is configured for hot-add memory devices in memory ranges beyond 4 GB. If the computer does not support hardware-enabled DEP or is not
configured for hot-add memory devices in memory ranges beyond 4 GB, PAE must be explicitly enabled.

    For more information refer:

Physical Address Extension - Win32 apps

    Also refer:

Operating Systems and PAE Support - Windows 10 hardware dev | Microsoft Docs

    In answer to your question:

    • PAE is supported only on the following 32-bit version of Windows
    • Yes

Hope it helps. Let us know for further assistance on PAE, we will be happy to help you.

    Thank you.

4GB Ram - Physical Address Extension

    Morning guys!

Ive recently bought another 2Gb of G.Skill DDR2 800mhz ram.
This complemented the existing 2Gb of G.Skill I had.

In CPU-Z this turns up as

4096Mb in Dual Channel with a Real Clock of ~469mhz at 5-5-5-13

In My Computer it only registers 2Gb of Ram and below that says "Physical Address Extension." I am only running 32 bit XP and I understand that I cant use more than 3.1Gb of RAM due to the 32 bit restrictions, but according to Microsoft the Physical Address Extension (which I have enabled in my BIOS) allows me to use a maximum of 4Gb of ram.

Everest similarly reports that I only have 2Gb, BUT it registers all 4Gb are there.

So does this PAE allow me to use my 4Gb of RAM (3.1Gb really...) or is it only allowing me to use the 2Gb?

    PAE not working?

I am running Windows XP 32-bit at the moment and it doesn't appear that PAE is working. I have all 4 gigs of my RAM installed, and I went into the boot.ini file and added the /PAE switch, and then I right click to properties on My Computer, it shows Physical Address Extension, however it still only shows 3.25GB of ram.
