Windows 10: Does OneDrive for Home Users Now Back up Music and Videos Libraries?

I am running Windows 11 Home, 22H2 OS Build 22621.1105 on an HP Pavilion laptop mfr in Dec 2021 with 11th Gen IntelR CoreTM i7-1165G7 Hz and 16.0 GB RAM. The OneDrive Build is 23.007.0109.0004 64-bit.In the recent past, the Back Up functionality of OneDrive could only be used to back up the Documents, Pictures and Desktop libraries. However, my understanding from this Microsoft Support topic https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/back-up-your-folders-with-onedrive-d61a7930-a6fb-4b95-b28a-6552e77c3057 is that OneDrive is now able to back up the Music and Videos libraries, and us

Double User Libraries

All valid and good points.

The question is why Libraries were populated like this (which is different from before updating).

BTW, RogerW2 point is also (partially) true; under Pictures library, a OneDrive Pictures folder was added, while OneDrive was uninstalled and not present in [local user] folders. So, when you click on it, you get an error message, but you can still see the
contents of the local Pictures folder.

This "OneDrive phantom" issue appeared only in Pictures library.

Last point: the default w10 libraries are supposed to be

• Documents
• Music
• Pictures
• Videos

Now there are new Library appearances(Camera Roll, Saved Pictures). Seems NOT true for later w10 versions.

 

Library adds onedrive automatically


Hello everyone.

I have my pictures, documents, music and videos organised on a seperate HDD and added them to the Librarys so that I get rid of these annoying folders which several programs add to documents/pictures in the User-Folder.

Now with Windows 10 I have got the problem, that the Onedrive-Folders and the User-Folders are always added automatically to the Libraries. I can delete the folders from the Libraries but after the next restart they are back again.

The standard Folders -> I don't use them for my files ... Just some programs save some files there. And these folders should be excluded from the Libraries!!
C:\User\Christian\Documents
C:\User\Christian\Pictures
C:\User\Christian\Videos
C:\User\Christian\Music

The folders for my documents etc.. These folders are in my Libraries.
D:\Documents
D:\Pictures
D:\Videos
D:\Music

This folder should be excluded from my Libraries, too.
D:\OneDrive


I don't know if it is a bug or if I do something wrong. (I delete the folders by right-clicking on the Library>Properties>
delete.)

Problem with location of Pictures library after making pictures available on OneDrive

I did what you suggested but it ended up making OneDrive the Pictures library. This may have something to do with the way i originally moved the Pictures folders to OneDrive. I probably should explain:

Because there already was a (fairly empty) Pictures folder under OneDrive (automatically set up I think when transferring a few Ipad photos to PC via OneDrive) I had moved the top level Pictures folders into D/users/myname/OneDrive rather than moving
the Pictures folder itself. This was probably a bit stupid but I subsequently moved the top level Pictures folders into that pre-existing Pictures folder on OneDrive and that's how we got to where we are today.

To continue after that diversion. Following the restore you suggested, the pictures folder under Libraries was still wrong but it looked a lot better ie it was no longer offering me a choice of locations for Pictures folders and, instead was just showing
me all the top level folders for what it (wrongly) thought was the Pictures folder. But it was still not appearing directly under This PC.

My next step was to go into Properties option for Libraries/Pictures. Here I simply added the correct location D/users/myname/OneDrive/pictures and deleted the location D/users/myname/OneDrive which at that time was the current location.

So, on the Positive side:

• Libraries/Pictures now shows what I would expect ie my top level Pictures folders

But, on the negative side:

• Pictures still does not appear under This PC, unlike Documents, Videos, Music etc
• in the Photos app, if I go to Folders option, it shows the folder as OneDrive, not OneDrive/Pictures even though, if i go into "choose where to look" it is correctly showing OneDrive/Pictures as the location. Obviously i can still get to the photos I need
  but it's an extra unnecessary step
