    No M.2 slot on that motherboard.

    I also doubt that the chipset supports NVME. That doesn't mean that the SSD can't work (when combined with a PCI-E slot adapter). The performance loss may not be major.

    You can also buy SSDs that go in regular PCI-E slots, but they are more expensive:

    That Z87 board can't boot off a PCI-E drive?

    I don't pretend to know.

    My #2 system boots of an M.2 drive in a PCI-E slot adapter. It's an X79 board, though.

    I'm of the impression it could be done as well. What are we missing? And the Z87 is a newer board than the X79.

    Hi,

    Then you'd need a M.2 to PCIe adaptor board.

    BTW the Z78 chipset should be capable of PCIe booting. Sorry for the confusion I caused.

    even If we boot M.2 via PCIe using adapter

    then we have to install software-driver to use such SSD at full throttle
    since it is mention on Samsung , Toshiba and other website
    without Samsung's Magician software 960 EVO and 960 Pro card will only reach to 520-600 MB speed only
    such speed can be easily achieved by Samsung 850 Pro via SATA port without software

    so I and Swarfega want such expensive PCIe adapter power M.2 SSD on Z87 Motherboard
    with full speed
    Manufacturers MAGICIAN software must detect and install it on Win 10 PRO , i7-4770k , Z87 motherboard high end

    those manufacturers must let us install MAGICIA spftware on Z87 m\board with i7-4770k
    samsung says it support M.2 SSD from HASWELL REFRESH Intel processors
    but they also didnot mention about PCIe SATA SSD M.2

    is there is anyone who test it PCIe (M.2 SSD) on 4th generation intel HASWELL processors
