  1. Does storage sense delete personal files?

I just wanna ask if it deleted personal files, recently, a bunch of files in my downloads folder had suddenly disappeared luckily the files weren't too important and I think it's because of storage sense. Is it better to turn it off and delete files manually or to use a third-party program or just turn it on? I don't really want to risk losing any more files,

    :)

  2. What did Windows Storage Sense delete?

Some Windows program called Storage Sense was enabled by default. This Storage Sense told me it deleted 908 MB (!) of my files in the past month without my knowledge nor permission.

How do I determine which of my personal files this unauthorized program deleted? I need to recover them from Carbonite before I lose them forever.

    "STORAGE SENSE" OPTION DELETING FILES

    Hi Myra,

I am Dave, I will help you with this, storage sense should not be deleting your personal files.

Do you use a cloud app to sync your files, like OneDrive, DropBox... etc.?

If you use for example OneDrive, right click its icon on the taskbar and go into its settings, is 'Files On Demand' turned on?

If it is, that tells OneDrive to sync your files to the cloud and delete them from your PC, they are then downloaded when you want to work on a file.

Log into OneDrive here: Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

Can you find the missing files there?

What did Windows Storage Sense delete?

    Hi, Garth

You can not find what was deleted. The only precautious way is having this disabled.

Windows 10 should have Storage sense disabled by default, but you can check and turn off the feature as necessary using these steps:

    1.Open Settings.

    2.Click on System.

    3.Click on Storage.

4.Turn off the Storage sense toggle switch.

Once you've completed the steps, the feature will stop running automatically on your device.

In the event that your device starts running out of space to perform an upgrade or store files, you can re-enable the feature and use these tips to free up space.

    Good luck !
