Windows 10: Does the File Scrubber part of Integrity Streams system of ReFS continue where it ended...

When the File Scrubber starts scanning the data of files part of Integrity Streams system of ReFS but you shut down windows 10 does it continue where it ended when restarting windows ? Or does the file scrubber completely restarts at the beginning of the surface the next time you start windows 10 ?

Will Win 10 Pro ReFS Integrity Streams work after Creator's Update?

I understand that the Win 10 Pro Fall Creator's update removes the ability for Win 10 Pro to create new ReFS volumes but will still permit read/write to existing ReFS volumes. I have a 4 TB ReFS volume that has File Integrity Streams enabled. Will File Integrity
Steams continue to function normally on my existing ReFS volume after the Win 10 Pro Fall Creator's update or will I need to upgrade to Win 10 Pro for Workstation?

What do new Windows 8/10 attributes mean: No scrub file (X), Integrity (V), Pinned (P), Unpinned (U)

There are new attributes I didn't know about.

V Integrity attribute.

This is related to checking for file corruption:

Integrity-streams - ReFS uses checksums for metadata and optionally
for file data, giving ReFS the ability to reliably detect corruptions.

FILE_ATTRIBUTE_INTEGRITY_STREAM

The directory or user data stream is configured with integrity (only
supported on ReFS volumes). It is not included in an ordinary
directory listing. The integrity setting persists with the file if
it's renamed. If a file is copied the destination file will have
integrity set if either the source file or destination directory have
integrity set.

scrubber. This scrubber periodically scans the volume, identifying

scanner (AKA scrubber). When set on a directory it only provides
inheritance. This flag is only supported on Storage Spaces and ReFS

This indicates that the file is a Sparse File:

A sparse file has an attribute that causes the I/O subsystem to
allocate only meaningful (nonzero) data. Nonzero data is allocated on
disk, and non-meaningful data (large strings of data composed of
zeros) is not. When a sparse file is read, allocated data is returned
as it was stored; non-allocated data is returned, by default, as
zeros.

NTFS deallocates sparse data streams and only maintains other data as
allocated. When a program accesses a sparse file, the file system
yields allocated data as actual data and deallocated data as zeros.

NTFS includes full sparse file support for both compressed and
uncompressed files. NTFS handles read operations on sparse files by
returning allocated data and sparse data. It is possible to read a
sparse file as allocated data and a range of data without retrieving
the entire data set, although NTFS returns the entire data set by
default.

With the sparse file attribute set, the file system can deallocate
data from anywhere in the file and, when an application calls, yield
the zero data by range instead of storing and returning the actual
data. File system application programming interfaces (APIs) allow for
the file to be copied or backed as actual bits and sparse stream
ranges. The net result is efficient file system storage and access.
Next figure shows how data is stored with and without the sparse file
attribute set.

This topic describes Resilient File System (ReFS), a new file system in Windows Server 2012, the deployment scenarios for the new file system, and the new and changed functionality for ReFS in Windows Server 2012 R2.
Feature description

Windows customers want a cost-effective platform that maximizes data availability, scales efficiently to very large data sets across diverse workloads, and guarantees data integrity by means of resiliency to corruption (regardless of software or hardware failures). ReFS is a new file system that targets these needs while providing a foundation for significant future innovations. By utilizing an integrated storage stack comprising ReFS and the new Storage Spaces feature in Windows Server 2012, customers can now deploy the most cost-effective platform for available and scalable data access using commodity storage.

Storage Spaces protects data from partial and complete disk failures by maintaining copies on multiple disks. ReFS interfaces with Storage Spaces to automatically repair the corruption. For more information about Storage Spaces, see Storage Spaces Overview and the Storage Spaces Microsoft TechNet blog.

The key attributes of ReFS include:

Maintaining a high level of data availability and reliability, even when the individual underlying storage devices experience failures.

Providing a full, end-to-end resilient architecture when used in conjunction with Storage Spaces. When used together, ReFS and Storage Spaces provide enhanced resiliency to storage device failures.
