DTS supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 and it should work on windows 10 too just DDL require to unlock your driver .

Workaround for changing the Windows 10/11 Startup sound

THIS METHOD IS NOT OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED BY MICROSOFT.

Steps to change the Windows 10/11 Startup sound due to a bug with the "Sounds" control panel item not actually changing anything, hence why the options are disabled in the Windows Registry Editor. It is also worth noting that the Startup sound has been disabled in versions 8, 8.1 and Windows 10 but this post will not detail how to enable it.

    1. Using a program such as "Resource Hacker" or "7-Zip" open the file C:\Windows\SystemResources\imageres.dll.mun (make sure to backup this file)
    2. Navigate to the folder \.rsrc\WAVE\
    3. Replace the file 5080 which is a WAVE file; in Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10, the sound is the Windows Vista and Windows 7 startup sound but in Windows 8 and onwards, this is disabled by default and the file C:\Windows\Media\Windows Logon.wav is a placeholder file which does not load on boot.

Because the file imageres.dll.mun is in use by the SYSTEM account, you cannot overwrite the file.
      1. There are programs that will "unlock" the file from the SYSTEM account allowing the file to be deleted and/or overwritten but the steps below will not use such programs
    4. Save the file imageres.dll.mun in a different location e.g. the Desktop folder
    5. Restart Windows into either Safe Mode or a different operating system Such as a Live copy of Ubuntu Linux
    6. Once in either Safe Mode or another operating system, open the file explorer (This will either be GNOME Files or Dolphin on Ubuntu Linux) and then navigate to the folder C:\Windows\SystemResources and wherever you saved the modified file e.g. C:\Users\[your user name]\Desktop
    7. Then copy the modified imageres.dll.mun into the folder C:\Windows\SystemResources\ and overwrite the existing file when promted to do so
    8. Now Restart your computer and load Windows 10/11 and on loading the lockscreen, you should now hear a different Windows Startup sound than the original in either Windows 10 or Windows 11.
It is worth noting that in some older versions of Windows 10 and in Windows 8, 8.1 the file imageres.dll.mun is located at C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll instead of C:\Windows\SystemResources\imageres.dll.mun This change was presumably made to allow for a port of the file imageres.dll.mun to a native Arm64 and x86-64 binary instead of having to emulate the x86 binary instead.
