Windows 10: Does there need to be a shortcut to OneDrive inside the Documents folder?

My Documents folder resides on OneDrive and locally on drive G: OneDrive. Why is there a shortcut to the OneDrive folder inside my Documents folder? Is this just some remaining debris after I removed OneDrive from my PC and then reloaded it everything is working fine now..

Shortcut to inside Documents folder contents on taskbar

On Windows 7 I used to have a Documents folder shortcut on my taskbar. I could just click that shortcut and bingo, I was inside my opened Documents folder (where all my work is--not uncommon for users, I bet).

On Windows 10 I haven't yet found a shortcut to the Documents folder contents that only requires one click. Instead I end up in Quick Access and then I have to click open the Documents folder. Two-click access to get to my work. Almost always. UGH.
I've looked for a Windows keyboard shortcut to do this and haven't found one.
How can I get one-click access to INSIDE my Documents folder? On my taskbar preferably to bring my computer back to its user efficiency before Windows 10.

 

Shortcut Folders not Working in OneDrive

Inside of OneDrive I have created folders inside of folders, organizing all of my documents I work with on a daily basis. In some folders I need to shortcut to other folders within these folders. I hope I am not confusing here, But this worked very well
for me on windows explorer on my desktop. Now working within OneDrive. If I do exactly as stated. The shortcuts work on my desktop, but when I go to my laptop and try to access the folders using the shortcut. The folder is not found. I can find the folder
in OneDrive on my laptop if I go through the address path to get there, But the shortcut does not work.

Any idea's on how I can get these shortcuts to work? The same thing is reversed if I create the shortcut on my laptop and try using the shortcut on my desktop. I have a hunch it has something to do with the shortcut "path." Any help would be much appreciated!

 

Change Documents Shortcut

It is possible because I just did it a week ago.

I don't remember the exact steps and can't verify this since I stopped all syncs with OneDrive and uninstalled it when done.

I got the same error when I tried to move the Documents folder from OneDrive
I went into the OneDrive Settings, then Backup > Manage backup.
I unchecked the selection for the Documents folder.
Once I did that I was able to move the Documents folder from OneDrive

This is the only way I know to do it. I suggest you only keep things in the Documents folder you don't want synced with OneDrive. For files currently in OneDrive\Documents that you still want to sync with OneDrive, create a new folder and move them there. Then just add this folder to the ones synced by OneDrive
