Windows 10: Does upscaled 4k on series s look Better and smoother then 1440 p

I own a 4kuhd 65inch Samsung nu6900 . Not the greatest but would upscaled 4k look smoother and play better than 1440p on series S console thank you

IMO, most likely not.



You could check if there is any image quality difference when switching between the monitor's internal upscaling facility (if it has any) and upscaling using the video card drivers instead. Some devices may do a better looking job of upscaling than others.
Upscaling in the video card would tend to increase the load on it and could impact performance, especially if you are already operating near the card's limits.

Upscaling that is done using the monitor's firmware won't look any different regardless of the computer's OS. A significant difference in the video card driver for one OS version or the other might have an impact on upscaling quality if the upscaling is
done using the graphics card hardware. If the graphics driver version numbers are the same for both OS's though I wouldn't expect any difference in image quality unless stated otherwise by the graphics card manufacturer. An upgraded graphics card could give
more satisfying results than changing the OS.

In general the quality of the source media directly impacts the quality of the upscaled display image. Upscaling images does not increase their resolution in any way, so an image or video that is upscaled to 4k from a 1080p/720p/480i/etc. source will never
have the same level of detail as an image or video that was actually captured in 4k resolution. Upscaled images only mathematically fudge in more screen pixels to display the exact same level of detail as exists in the original lower resolution source images.

A 4k/UHD will only operate in 1080p, if that is the signal it is receiving. Suggest you invest in a good quality 4k/UHD video capable card. That way you can upscale to 4k/UHD.

 

1440 144hz or 4k 60hz?

I went with a 4k with freesync and I'm very happy I did.
