Windows 10: does Win10 home version (1803) have the "Windows Easy Transfer" function available in Win 8 ?

or is there another ulitity in Win 10 that will allow me to easily transfer backup data files ONLY (like docs, photos, videos) from and external usb drive to the "C" drive of a new PC ? (without restoring entire system backup and messing with the new PC's O.S.)

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Restore Win 8 Easy Transfer file to Win10

As the old Win 8 computer was breathing it's last breath, we used "Easy Transfer" to dump user files to an external drive. Got the new computer with Win 10 and it has no "Easy Transfer" to access the old computer files. Any Ideas?

As you now know, Windows 10 does not have Easy Transfer. The way you did it wouldn't have worked even if it did. The copy of Easy Transfer for the new OS has to be installed (via a download) on the old one before a transfer to the new OS is possible. What
you had on the Windows 8 computer was Easy Transfer for copying files from Vista and Windows 7.

What you need is a file and folder backup made on the Windows 8 machine. Then you could manually transfer them to the Windows 10 computer.

Is the Windows 8 computer still running?

If it is copy your files and folders to OneDrive and then recover them from OneDrive on the new computer.
