Windows 10: Does Windows 10 home support smb3

Using windows 10 home as a test bed I cannot seem to connect to server 12 with smb3. Does win10home support smb3 or do I need to upgrade to pro?

This is still a big deal. Any ideas? is there simply no way to submit a bug report for Windows 10?

this compute node will need to outlast the product support life of windows 7, and we'd get better performance using an OS that supports SMB3 network share access, so making it work with windows 10 is preferred goal.

One of my systems is running a technical preview. This just updated to 1099.rs1_release 160109_1156.

To my happy surprise the SMB 3 now works. So Microsoft does know how to do it ;-) I verified the registry was back to default and when I hit "Network" I could see all my devices including the Linux driven disk server. Next I looked in the system32 directory
of the new version and indeed the wkssv.dll and browser.dll had new versions. I was tempted to copy these files to my current release. However I would have to figure out how to take control of the system32 directory and I have no idea if that would screw up
the system. Also no guarantee that just replacing these files would do the trick. So I will wait until MS get around to updating the production systems. Anyone listening ?

Update: This would be funny if it was not so dumb. When I restored my production version to include SMB3 (by undoing the sc commands) I found that the production version could not see the insider preview version. So the Insider Windows 10 is not even compatible
with the released Windows 10. So back to square one. All released versions disable the SMB3 and leave SMB3 enabled on the Insider Preview. Eventually I guess the fix will percolate down.

 

Did you check the server to see if it is capable of doing SMBv3? With SMBv2 & 3 enabled, any device that cannot do SMBv3, will downgrade to SMBv2. You just need to make sure those servers are running and that Computer Browser shows up in your Services.msc screen. See the following for more info on SMB and finding out which one you are running.
