Windows 10: Does Windows 10 still do the AptX Bluetooth popup indicator - linked thread with older info

I have an AptX BT receiver that we recently started using again... I found [this thread with driver info](https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/6v0w1l/enable_aptx_on_hp_spectre_x360_2017_and_other/) which I followed but am not getting the popup that says AptX is working like the other posts (link below) I found about this topic online with Intel AC-8265 devices. The little check box in the settings (also seen in link below) for Enable AptX is checked and the driver version shows what the first linked thread mentions as an indication it is working.

Did MS remove the popup with the 2019 updates that is [shown in this older thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/8mlqh9/bluetooth_aptx_support_for_windows_10/)



Any help/verification of this topic would be appreciated.

How can I detect what codec my Bluetooth headphones are using on Windows 10?

The response you linked to only helps if I am using CSR's own Bluetooth driver stack. It says "When you use the CSR Harmony Stack, if you connect an Aptx device you will get a Popup with the Aptx logo informing you that you connected an Aptx device. If there
is no popup, there is no Aptx connection." which only applies to the CSR-provided driver ("CSR Harmony 2.0"). The response you linked to also refers to different colored LEDs on the adapter--the CSR dongle I'm using doesn't have different colored LEDs to indicate
the codec being used.

I am using the Microsoft-provided Bluetooth driver stack included in Windows 10 in conjunction with a CSR USB Bluetooth adapter. The Microsoft driver gives me no indication of whether I am using aptX or not when connecting a pair of Bluetooth headphones
that support aptX.

The make and model of my Bluetooth headphones is the Sony MDR-1ABT. They work with aptX and when using the CSR driver, I get a notification upon connecting to them that they are using aptX. The Bluetooth adapter I am using is the Azio BTD-V401.

 

Windows 10 & AptX

I am planning on purchasing a new Windows 10 laptop.

The ones I am interested in come with "Intel Bluetooth 4.2".

Today I have a Windows 7 laptop with an AptX dongle that I use for my AptX headphones and hifi.

Is AptX support built into Windows 10 so I can buy any of these laptops or do I need to call the manufacturers and check for special AptX enabled drivers?

aptx on W10/ W10mobile

I read Microsoft community, and found the Windows 10 and W10mobile has no doubt to support Bluetooth aptx codec. Bluetooth

I try that success on W10 PC with aptx enabled dongle, sound really good and no delay during video playback.

however, it is a different story on phone.

- sound quality is less rich when comparing the same song same headset on aptx enabled PC and on the phone

- one of aptx feature low latency is not showing when I play video on Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520, ie, sound delay when playing video.

Another point is, aptx should be licensed from CSR to work. even the hardware is embedded. CSR shows device list which obtained aptx license, but I only find Lumia 630 in the website.

it makes me suspect whether aptx is really working on Lumia phone?

Wish someone from Microsoft can help to clarify. Thank you.
