  1. Does Windows 10 support Bluetooth LE Audio?

I recently upgraded to new hearing aids with Bluetooth support (yay!) and I've been able to use them without any issues on all of my devices except for my Windows 10 desktop. If it helps, my other devices are: Lenovo Thinkpad T480s (Fedora 31), MacBook Pro (MacOS Catalina), iPhone (iOS 14).

My desktop's motherboard doesn't have WiFi or Bluetooth built in, so I bought a USB Bluetooth radio. I ran into a problem shortly after installing the drivers and pairing my hearing aids: Windows wouldn't show them as an audio playback device.

I thought maybe the device just had a bad driver, so I ordered a different USB Bluetooth radio to replace it. The replacement arrived today and I tried it out but experienced the same results. It pairs with the hearing aids, but Windows doesn't understand that they're an audio output device.

I learned that hearing aids use Bluetooth Low Energy to connect to Bluetooth radios. Specifically, I learned that they depend on an extension to the Bluetooth protocol, LE Audio. It seems like this is a fairly new addition to the protocol, which leads me to believe that maybe Windows 10 doesn't have support for this yet and therefore that is why it doesn't recognize my hearing aids as a playback device.

Does Windows 10 support Bluetooth LE Audio? If it does, does anyone else have experience with getting Windows to recognize their Bluetooth hearing aids as a playback device?

    Bluetooth in windows 10

My computer specs are as listed in the profile. I think all of you guys are correct. I don't have built-in Bluetooth in mobo.

I contacted skull candy headphones and thy have told me if I do not have built-in Bluetooth, I would need a dongle which supports at least a2dp. I do not know what the heck that means. I have a feeling I would need more than a cheap dongle.

Anyone suggest some a2dp adapters. I searched but don't know what a2dp is so couldn't make a decision

  3. Bug in windows bluetooth le GetGattServicesAsync method

    The problem description:
Sometimes it is not possible to get some response from the method GetGattServicesAsync with the parameter BluetoothCacheMode.Cached or BluetoothCacheMode.Uncached. Only the windows restart helps to reconnect the le device and to get the services from the le device.

We use Windows.Devices.Bluetooth.dll with .Net Framework 4.6.1 to build the class library.
The Windows PC shall connect the Bluetooth le device.

    Steps for the problem reproducing:

    1. Discovery the devices with the determined service
    2. Call the method FromBluetoothAddressAsync with the Bluetooth address of LE device
    3. BluetoothLEDevice is found
    4. Pair the LE device with desktop:

    5. Check the connection status. If the status connected, call the method GetGattServicesAsync(BluetoothCacheMode.Cached)
    6. Sometimes is not possible to get the response from GetGattServicesAsync. After 30 seconds we cancel the task, dispone BluetoothLEDevice, unpair and try to reconnect le device. The reconnection is failed and only the Windows restart helps to establish the connection to the le device.

    PC:

    • Dell Precision 5530
    • Bluetooth adapter Qualcomm QCA6174A
    • Windows 10 Enterprise (1803)
    • Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134.590

    LE Device:

    • Bluetooth 4.2

Does Windows 10 support Bluetooth LE Audio?

    Bluetooth in windows 10

USB-BT211 Mini Bluetooth Dongle | Networking | ASUS Global

    • Support A2DP for Wireless Stereo Music Playback
Edit: This is a dongle with old BT version I see now, but I'm sure you can find a Asus BT4.0 version.

    Edit2:

@aasim1111 I have this one, it doesn't show that it supports A2DP in the specs but I think it'll work, otherwise send a mail to Asus and ask.
