    Does Windows 11 Pro allow smb1 under any circumstances?


    How can I be sure that SMB1 doesn't get activated ever?Under Windows Features in Control Panel there is a setting "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support". And I see "SMB 1.0/CIFS Automatic Removal". What worries me is the popup description that says, "Automatically removes support for the legacy SMB 1.0/CIFS protocol when such support isn't actively needed during normal system usage". What does that mean? Does that mean it might get activated by something?Should I uncheck that and then it won't be available at all?

    SMB1 disabled; No longer have access to mapped network shares via File Explorer

    As per Microsoft suggestion I disabled the SMB1 protocol to stave off Wcry type attacks. At the same time I made sure SMB2 protocol was enabled. Now, i can no longer access mapped network shares using File Explorer. To verify the situation I turned SMB1
    back on and was again able to use File Explorer successfully. The network drive is operating properly; I checked using the browser admin features over IP. At present SMB1 is still off and SMB2 is on.

    What must I do short of re-enabling SMB1 to allow File Explorer to access the network drive?

    Windows 11 Pro Upgrade from Windows 10 Pro Edition

    No but after it installed the malfunctioning Windows 11 upgrade it was listed as Windows 11 Pro. Microsoft Windows support advised I reinstall Windows 10 Pro and said that Windows 11 is really only meant for new PC's that come with it preinstalled. MSI website doesn't list my 2020 GT76 Titan dt-039 notebook on their Windows 11 upgrade eligibility list so I guess that's why the Windows 11 Pro upgrade failed. I suggest being careful with trying the Windows 11 upgrade despite it stating my notebook was capable of running Windows 11 it was wrong. Luckily I have the original Windows 10 Pro USB Flash drive because the Windows 11 Pro upgrade was so incomplete I had no way of reverting notebook back to Windows 10 without reinstalling from a USB Flash.

    How to desactivate W 11 Mode S to allow for the installation of SpyderX Pro?

    Opening SpyderX Pro is prevented because the app has not been certified according to the pop-up box.

    While researching the problem, the steps suggested by Microsoft Support do not work as it referred to a "Switch to Windows 11 Pro section" under Activation which does not exist. Chat with Microsoft recommended to reinstall Windows 11, with everything it entails. Is there a simpler way to do so.
