Windows 10: DOES WINRETOOLS NEED TO BE ON OR OFF?

I had to reset my laptop after going to store for new large drive to be added. They could not put laptop back. got home could not get internet. They put wrong keyboard. I had to go through manager. They added windows 11 and I asked them not to because my older sewing machine will not work with 11.I noticed WINRETOOLS say off. should it be turned on?Microsoft store doesn't work so my touch pad works but can't get software from Microsoft store. Touchpad works only like a mouse & other functions I can't get back.Windows updates always has problems. Laptop flickering since windows update 3 day

Please let us know, if you have installed Bash on Ubuntu in the recovery drive.

I would like to inform you that Winretools is a system image of your computer. It includes Windows and your system settings, programs, and files. In OEM machine it is preinstalled as Winretools / recovery partition.

I suggest you to get in touch with the Manufacturer and check.

for backup and recovery. No need to worry to have this partition.

After Installing Windows 10 Anniversary Update WINRETOOLS and Image Missing

I am fully aware that that Winretools is a system image of my computer. It includes Windows and my system settings, programs, and files. In OEM machine it is preinstalled as Winretools / recovery partition. That exactly why I am concerned that they
are missing in Windows Explorer!

In Computer Management - Disk Management, the recovery partitions (there are two at, 450 MB and 11.88 GB size) are shown as 100% free.

In Bash, the Recovery is present as a directory with over 4.0 GB of disk usage (du -h) so they are not 100% free as the Windows
Computer Management - Disk Management says. At this time, I am not providing a complete directory listing but there is one App.ppk file that is over 4.0 GB in size and dated to July 28, 2015.

The installation of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update when smooth on both the desktop and the laptop without any interruptions and
without any errors. The same for installing the Bash on Ubuntu on Windows.

The Bash on Ubuntu on Windows is not installed in the Recovery partition.

It seems that the installation of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and maybe the installation of the

Bash on Ubuntu on Windows may have screwed up the WINRETOOLS and Image on a Dell desktop and a Dell laptop.

After almost 30 years working in IT, this will not be the first time that I have seen Microsoft screw up and it probably will not be the last.

So if Windows says that WINRETOOLS and Image are not there, but Linux says that there is over 4.0 GM in the Recovery directory, what is going on?
