Windows 10: Dont have permissions for files on usb

I have a usb that i keep a few important photos on but recently when i tried to to open them i get this message from the photos app on windows saying "It looks like you dont have the permission to view this file. check the permissions and try again" ive tried everything online from resetting drivers to uninstalling them, i dont even have access to the security tab in the properties windows so i cant try that ive tried giving myself permissions through the terminal but that doesnt solve it either. I cant move files off of the usb either it says you dont have permission again the file icons also

I dont get administrative permissions to a specific folder.

Problems accessing files may be related to permissions. Permissions are rules associated with files and folders that determine whether you can access them or make changes to them. To check the permission of the file or folder, follow these steps:

• Right-click the file or folder, and then click Properties.
• Click the Security tab.
• Under Group or user names, tap or click your name to see the permissions you have.

To open a file, you need to have read permission. To change permissions on a file or folder, follow these steps:

• Right-click the file or folder, and then tap or click Properties.
• Click the Security tab.
• Under Group or user names, tap or click your name to see the permissions you have.
• Click Edit, then select the check boxes for the permissions that you need. Tap or click OK.

No permissions

Hi,

I would suggest you to right click on the user's folder for your profile and check if the permissions shows as "read only'. If this is the case, it might be causing the issue. In this case, I would suggest you to go to C:\User folder, right click on the
folder with your username and follow these steps:

• Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
  
• Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
• Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.
  

This does a one-time action that replaces the security on all the files/subfolders. It’s one-time, so you won’t find that box checked if you peek at it later. Try these steps and let us know the results for further assistance.
