Don't want to allow the Windows 11 update. Afraid to restart computer

I clicked on update to Windows 11 and then realized I would lose a program that I use all the time. I do not want to restart my computer and allow the Windows 11 update. How do I cancel the update? I want to stay on Windows 10. The download has not started and will not start until I restart the computer, so I figure there is some way to stop the update.

    :)

    Windows updates won't install!

I had the same problem when i repaired my O/S, i forgot the steps on how to fixed it, but it is in the microsoft support forum.

You have to reinstall the windows updater, then restart the updating service.

    edit: Found it...http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Don't want to allow the Windows 11 update. Afraid to restart computer :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

    Windows 11 Processor List

    Hi DanMcW,

I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

I'm afraid not. Microsoft has indicated that the list of compatible processors is final.

See the link below for supported processors for Windows 11.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardwa...

Microsoft does not recommend installing Windows 11 on computers that are not supported. Your device may malfunction due to compatibility or other issues.

But if you still want to install on an unsupported device, I suggest you check the article below first.

    https://support.microsoft.com/windows/installin...

I also suggest that you contact your computer manufacturer to see if you can upgrade your computer's processor to be compatible with Windows 11.

Feel free to ask back any questions.
