Windows 10: DosBox -X fails to record bacground music into avi file when game is set to general midi

I feel as though DOBox -X is perpetrating some sort of fraud about the nature of legacy Microsoft technology. It's a freeware app with some notoriety.

Play an incomplete avi file?

divfix might be able to help, if not, and VLC and the other suggestions don't work it might just be impossible for your files. Are you sure they're avi files for example, check them out with g-spot. Sometimes funny people rename rar files to avi and such.

 

music files with an X on them

Not that I have a solution to suggest, but I think it is interesting that only three of the eight files in your list have that gray X. Are you able to copy those files which do not have the X? That might lead to a clue as to how the files got created, etc.
