    I got grey blank screen when I double click to open an excel file created and saved on my desktop and also an excel file from other source e.g. from a colleague stored in an USB

    Just installed 365. Can't double click on excel file to open.

    Ok. Now when I double click on an excel file, excel launches but the document does not open. I can access the ribbons but the sheet is missing. It's just blank...

    You can pin your favorite files to start screen.

    Sorry to hear that there is no real solution for you. On the other hand, I would not want to let Excel open a new file instead of existing one by default (blank spreadsheet is a new file). Could be causing you to lost your data (overwrite a file)...

    How do you start Excel? Clicking on desktop icon, from Start menu, or from Taskbar?

    Right clicking on Excel icon is giving you a list of most used files
