Windows 10: Double-clicking to open pdf's is inconsistent with preview pane turned on.

Win 10 Pro, Acrobat DC Pro

I open pdf's by double-clicking on the file immediately inside File Explorer. Recently some files do not open and instead the cursor seems to appear jittery or the blue spinning circle may appear. Double-clicking a second time often opens the PDF. I performed a clean installation with Adobe tech support and the issue persists. Found two temporary work-arounds:


1. Click once on the file to highlight, allow the preview pane appear, and then double-clicking works reliably to open.

2. Turned off the preview pane feature and double-clicking opens PDF's reliably like it used to for years.


I found others on an Adobe forum with this issue. Would like confirmation from other users so it can be recognized by MS and Adobe as worthwhile to fix.

Delete and Cut Files with Preview Pane Open

• Have you tried to delete the pdf file in preview panel?
• What exactly happens when try to delete the pdf file?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• 
  Open File Explorer.
  
• 
  Select View and click on preview panel.
  
• 
  Select the pdf file.
  
• 
  At the right corner you will be able to see preview panel.
  
• 
  You can right click on it and delete the files.

Setting the Preview pane to show or hide in File Explorer will apply to all folders. If you wish to hide the Preview pane in File Explorer, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer.
• Tap on View tab.
• Click Preview Pane to view/hide it.

Windows 10 mail app - double click to open

Hi.

Recently I tried Windows 10 built-in mail app.

I'm looking for two options:

• Double clicking on an email will open it in a new window (currently double click hide/unhide the email in preview pane)
• Hiding email preview pane permanently
