Windows 10: Double-left-click on CD Drive in Explorer invokes wrong app.

I’m having trouble with clicking on my CD drive which insists on running Windows Media Player. I want to replace WMP with PotPlayer, which I have installed and let it associate itself with a vast number of media file types.
1. After much struggle, I have managed to get Autoploay to work intermittently for CD’s by doing this: used regedit to ensure that DisableAutoplay is set to 0 in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoplayHandlers

Also go into settings>Default apps, under Music Player where I see this:




I have associated .cda file types to PotPlayer, so that if I right-click on the CD-Drive and then click ‘open’, I get a list of the .cda files on the disc, and when I double-click on one of them, PotPlayer opens and plays it.

Fine.


However, and this is what is really irritating me, if I double-left-click on the CD-Drive, WMP opens and plays the CD. It is here that I want PotPlayer to be used instead.

Has anyone any idea how I can alter the effects of a double-left-click on the CD drive?

I double left click on the cd drive icon, then the list of files waiting to be written appears and the disk icon at the top of the page disappears. No burn options appear anywhere. There are frequent folders at the top of the page of which the cd drive
is one. These seven folders go away after the cd icon is double clicked.

 

I put a disk in the disk drive and nothing happens. I cannot figure out how to open the disk to see what's on it.

Open File Explorer and double click your CD/DVD drive should show you the contents of the Disc.

Right Click on the CD/DVD drive while in file explorer and choose Eject to open the drawer.

In control panel/Autoplay you can set what happens or what doesn't happen when you put into that drive a CD/DVD disc.

I had a quick play without success before reading that:
My settings for autoplay seem to have been set to default by Windows- possibly on the last upgrade.

Starting from




Inserting an audio disk gives




I chose play with VLC - VLC opened.

Throughout d l clicking on the disk in file explorer simply opened file explorer.

I tried rt clicking on it and Open Autoplay
This rather gave




I chose VLC player.
(Note, rt click, play played it with WMP)

However, this made no change.
The disk still opened with explorer when double l clicked, and rt click play still played it with WMP.

 

I'm afraid that this didn't work for me. I made the changes to the registry to no effect.
Never mind, it is a minor point and I think that I will contact the software vendors tom see if they can help.
