    Downgrading from 1703 to 1607 (no windows.old)

Hi, I'm having problems with the 1703 version of Windows, my laptop simply hates it: long story short, everything loads up extremely slow, games have low FPS and so on. I just want to get back to 1607. Problem is, the last time I installed Windows (back in May I believe), it updated itself to 1607, then to 1703...something I was able to prevent or at least downgrade from.
This time, it updated itself straight to 1703. So here I am, I wasn't able to find a solution to my problem so I decided to just ask for help myself.

    :)

  3. Deletion of Windows.old(1) Folder with Its Content

    Hello Andre,

Neither in the normal or safe mode disk cleanup can delete folder windows.old(1). Perhaps, disk cleanup helps for

folder windows.old. I do not remember how folder windows.old(1) was created, by date I can see 8/13/2017.

    I guess, I updated then Windows 10 ver.1607 to 1703. Now, I use ver.1709. So, I deleted windows.old that supported

ver. 1703 and the stubborn windows.old(1) is related to ver.1607.

There is a time limit involved in trying to go back to a previous version. I've seen 10 days mentioned. You may have to locate and download the 1607 .iso file to do a clean install. I don't have a current link but have saved the .iso, both 32-bit and 64-bit, on one of my drives.

If you want to get an iso for 1607 Anniversary Update direct from a Microsoft page, go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10 then use the F12 developers tools. On the emulation tab, set the 'User Agent String' to 'Safari (Apple iPad)' and the page will change to one offering ISOs for Creators Update and Anniversary Update.

Oh, perfect. Just to make sure, I do have to reinstall Windows before running the .iso, right?
And if I let it upgrade to 1703, would I be able to downgrade?

    ??? Can you translate that?

No, you don't have to, can use the .iso to burn the DVD exact-copy of the original disc then boot to it. Or store the .iso on a different drive and Mount it then run the setup.exe.

Hi again, I have some good news, my laptop started acting normal all of the sudden. Haven't done anything to it after it upgraded yesterday to 1703, I switched it on half an hour ago and noticed that thumbnails of images were loading up instantly. Tried a couple of games, everything was normal.

Thanks though for your help, I do appreciate it. I did download the 1607 just in case it decides to go crazy again. Take care!
