Windows 10: download error 0x80070643 | I am getting security updates for programs that are no longer...

I have had this problem for literal years and I have searched all over for a solution, to no avail.

I had a messy uninstall of Microsoft Office 2010 and all the programs that come with it; it left a lot of residue on my PC like registry entries and files etc. I had to use a program called Wise Program Uninstaller to get rid of all the leftover stuff. A very irritating side-effect of this messy uninstall is that Windows Updates leave the image shown. I cannot possibly have updates for programs I don't have installed!

Can anyone help me fix this? You would be a hero and have my eternal gratitude!

error 0x80070643 (update)

Hey

Try to apply the update manually As suggested by Microsoft. I just wrote a
step by step guide.

However be sure that the update itself is downloaded and that the installation part is failing, and not the downloading part.

I've tried suggested fix and I still get the error message (the updates are interestingly the same updates as poster):

• Security Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 (KB2645410) - Error 0x80070643

• Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 (KB2635973) - Error 0x80070643

 

• Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081704) - Error 0x80070643
