Windows 10: Download error for Windows Update and also Windows 11 hanging when msi installation file...

Dear Users,I have been finding similar problems on this forum, but mine seems to be a combo of sorts. I have been using my laptop sporadically lately: AMD Ryzen 7 3700U processor with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.30 GHz, Installed RAM 32.0 GB available: 29.9 GB, Windows 11 Home Version 23H2. Some time ago there was a problem with the inability to install Windows update: 2024-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64 based systems. Initially, the update starts downloading, but stays on the value at 0%. A few minutes later, a download error appears: 0x80080005. It is like this every

Windows Update suddenly hangs?

Windows Update is suddenly hanging for some reason... I went and downloaded and installed the first bunch of updates, restarted when asked, and now when I go back to windows update I just get the window with a white box forever. Reboot and it still does it. This happens to be on my main machine, running windows 7.

I've also noticed when I reboot it says configuring windows update, step 3 of 3, 47%. Maybe it somehow skipped something and is screwed forever?

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.

To stop the download, uninstall the KB3035583 update (under "Control Panel > Windows Update > Installed Updates").


To get rid of the C:\$Windows.~BT folder:

• Right-click on your C: drive.
• Select "Properties".
• Click on [ Disk Cleanup ]
• After the initial scan: If you have a [ Clean up system files ] button, click it and wait for the second scan to finish.
• Scroll down the list and look for "Temporary Windows installation files" (its size should be in the gigabytes range); check the box.
• Click on [ OK ] to start the clean-up.
