Windows 10: download of MSRT question

Discus and support download of MSRT question in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; 'Pause' setting in updates is now set at 12/25/2020.     'Pause' setting in updates is now set at 12/25/2020. Among updates listed as ready are v 2004, which I don't want and the 'malicious software removal tool' KB45890830 which I DO want installed. If I use the standalone MSRT to install it will it affect the remaining updates listed as ready or any future updates?


    Since receiving notice that v. 2004 was ready to be downloaded I have been manually installing updates listed in Microsoft update catalog, but the above update is not listed.

    When I enter its number in Search it cannot be found. None of the current 'ready' updates are listed in the catalog. It does appear when I open MSRT but I don't want to try to install it until I know what affect it may have on future updates. If I am able to use the MSRT tool to install it should the tool be uninstalled after the update is completed?

    Is it recommended to turn OFF 'automatic updates' option before and after using the MSRT?


    Any suggestion or advise will be appreciated. I am a senior citizen, a pc novice, and ask your help, please.

    MSRT Download link is Broken

    Thanks for the link. I'm still looking for a static link where i can download the latest MSRT package.. It would be bit difficult for layman to go through the whole list and download.. I hope MS will fix those broken links soon.

    The Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) is quite a useless and antiquated tool...

    It might show during scanning any number of "infected" files but at the end of the scanning come to the conclusion that they were not infected. The result counts...

    Suggestion to read these older threads (especially the posts of Rob Koch and quietman and GreginMich) which are explaining a bit about the "usefulness" of the MSRT...

    I, personally, never even download/use it...
