    Download preferred language via PowerShell

I have a number of Windows 10 20H2 computers that have a preferred language set to en-IE, but because the language pack is not downloaded the Windows Display language is set to the default of en-US. If I set the WinHTTP proxy and download the en-IE pack manually then I can set the display language, but I'm looking to do this via group policy and/or a PowerShell script. Are there any commands to force a download of the language pack via PowerShell?

    :)

    Hello,

Assuming you want to use English (United States) as your preferred language, try these steps

    1. Right click Start Button or press Windows + X keys and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).

    2. In the administrative Windows PowerShell window, type these commands one-by-one and press Enter key after each:

    Get-WinUserLanguageList

This will display list of installed languages on your machine. Note the LanguageTag for your preferred language.

    $1=New-WinUserLanguageList <LanguageTag>

Replace <LanguageTag> for your preferred language. For example, if your preferred language is English (United States), then you can use $1=New-WinUserLanguageList en-US.

    Set-WinUserLanguageList $1

After this, when opted, type Y to confirm setting preferred language. Close Windows PowerShell and you're done.

    Hope this helps!

  3. Language packs downloading

    Hi Nematjon

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Try setting English as your preferred language using steps mentioned here:

    1.Press Windows key + X

    Click Windows PowerShell (Admin)

    2. At the prompt, type each command then hit Enter

    Get-WinUserLanguageList

A list of languages will be displayed, look for your desired language and take note of it.

    $1=New-WinUserLanguageList <LanguageTag>

Change the <LanguageTag> for your preferred language. For example, if your preferred language is English (United States), then you can use $1=New-WinUserLanguageList en-US.

Proceed to type then hit Enter:

    Set-WinUserLanguageList $1

After this, when opted, type Y to confirm setting preferred language. Close Windows PowerShell then restart your computer.

Cannot remove language in "language preferences" after win10 update

Hi Spiros, there is a known bug in the 1803 version of Windows 10. Microsoft are aware of this issue and hopefully are working on a patch . . .

For the moment, please try this workaround to set your preferred input language:

Right click your Start Button, choose Powershell (admin)

Run this command to get a list of installed languages on your PC

    Get-WinUserLanguageList

Note down the LanguageTag of your preferred language

If say, your preferred language is US English, run this command and hit Enter:

    $1 = New-WinUserLanguageList en-US

Then run this command to set the order of installed input languages

    Set-WinUserLanguageList $1

Close Powershell and restart your PC
