Really? Reread what you wrote and read this: Install update manually.

 

I'm also stuck at 95%. Event viewer shows lots of service errors as well.

Do we really have to manually update or will this be fixed eventually?

I was stuck at 95% for 15 hours. I then shut down and restarted. Windows update said the update couldn't finish because the power had been turned off. Clicking its 'try again' option completed the update within 10 minutes. Try that, then do it manually if it doesn't work.

 

I didn't get any messages like "update couldn't finish" or else even though I shut down the pc several times, it's just stuck at 95% and there is no try again option.

I can wait actually if MS fix this at some point.

 

I have installed a fresh copy of win 10, which ISO downloaded a few days back.
Immediately after installation windows started downloading updates. Now, I want to ask why my laptop got the latest update KB3189866 but also updated and installed KB3176936 ?

Isn't the new update would have been suffice as it contains all previous updates built-in?

Now, I want to upgrade 2 of my other PC and thinking of manually downloading the update file, so shall I just grab the latest KB3189866 OR also the old KB3176936 is required ?

 

In spite of some comments here that say you have to manually update to resolve this issue, No, you may not have to. I recommend you try first to clear any corrupted downloads by using your PC to do a Disc Cleanup, followed by clearing your browser cache. Both these procedures are simple and you should be able to do this. This is an often run need (normal maintenance) for all Windows PCs. Then try the Windows Update again from your Update and Security setting. If you can't resolve the issue on your own PC, THEN reach out to Microsoft's Windows Catalog and manually download and run the update installer. Even then, you may find you will have to clear corrupted files again. My guess is once will be enough because I think this update contains too many "fixes" at one time. Some, but not all will install. Once you clear the stalled update data, you should be able to eventually get the update to run as it should.
