Windows 10: Download speed all over the place

    Download speed all over the place


    I have a windows 10 pc and downloading even the smallest things is a pain. One second I’ll be getting 1.2 mb/s and the next I’m getting 120 kb/s then it’ll shoot back up to 1.4 mb/s and the cycle continues. And the most surprising thing is that my ping and downloads speeds are better when more people are using the WiFi! I’m using WiFi as running an Ethernet cord through my walls isn’t an option. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled my network adapter, downloaded drivers from the site, ip flushed and renewed multiple times and it’s still like this. Anyone know any fixes? I have a Realtek RTL81881FTV for my network adapter. Thanks in advance for any help!

    Slow Download Speed

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft forums.

    • I would suggest you to test the speed using any of the speed test website or app to confirm the upload and download speed.
    • I also suggest you to reset the wireless router to check if that helps.
    • You may plug in the Ethernet cable if available and check the speed.
