Windows 10: Download speed for Epic Games super slow

Recently I decided to download Fortnite for my personal entertainment. I decided to download it through the game launcher only to find the speeds super slow fluctuating between 0b/s and around 250kb/s. I reinstalled it following their troublshooting guide and when im trying to reinstall the launcher, it is also at very slow speeds despite my internet having download speeds of 40mb/s. I'm looking for why my download speeds are this slow and how i could fix it. At the time of this post, the epic games status seems to be fine aside from facebook logins.
