Windows 10: Downloaded 64-bit however installed 32-bit

When upgrading to Windows 10, I clicked to download the 64-bit version however when I finished installing it was a 32-bit version. Please help!

I built a pc, downloaded windows 32 bit and bought far cry primal. I realised that far cry requires 64 bit so i re-downloaded windows and clean installed 64 bit. However when I go to about this computer, it says I'm still running 32 bit operating system
but my processor is capable of 64 bit. I have downloaded 64 bit and clean installed it 3 times but still having the same problem?

Yes, this is a strange phenomena... there are two versions of IE installed, a 32 bit one and a 64 bit one. However, they are not indented to be launched that way. Let me explain... if you attempt to launch the 32 bit version, it will immediately switch
over to the 64 bit version.

There has been some speculation that if you install a 32 bit add-on to IE, then you'd always get the 32 bit version of the application.... but I haven't seen that happen.

 

First, explain what method you used to "download". Obviously you did not use the Windows Update method. Did you use the Media Creation Tool? If so, there are two 64/32 bit choices. The first is to download the 32 bit or 64 bit version of the tool. This does not choose what version of Windows 10 will be installed, it's just the bitness of the tool itself.

Once you've download the tool, then you have to choose 64 bit or 32 bit from the prompts as well.

 

Yes i used the media creation tool, and did not touch anything that said 32 bit. The tool itself does not give me any options besides to upgrade to windows 10 or do it for a different pc.
