Windows 10: downloaded documents seized by Microsoft

I have a new problem with Microsoft. I used to be able to download documents through my Gmail account and find/use them easily. Now, they are hostages to Microsoft. I have to log in to Microsoft to use them in any way. What right does Microsoft to steal MY DOCUMENTS this way? I am talking about certificates for online course work, proof of ongoing professional training, all of which was done through Firefox. Oh, and let's not forget that Microsoft ended product support unless you call THIS product support. Talk to a PERSON? What is this "person" thing? I can't even say what product is

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps to resolve XPS document writer issues.

• 
  Right click on empty area on Desktop, click on Create and select New text document.
  
• 
  Open the created text document and type some text (input text as you desire, save and close text file)
  
• 
  Again open the text document, click on File tab and click on Print.
  
• 
  Select the Microsoft XPS writer and click on Print button.
  
• 
  You may select the location to save the file.
