    Downloaded photo location metadata missing in Windows 10


    The location metadata is correct in Google Photos. However, when I download pictures to my Windows 10 PC, there is no location metadata available at all. The metadata shown on the 'details' tab of the file properties does not have the "GPS" section with location that a Microsoft support person referenced in another thread. The Microsoft Photos app does not show a location in 'file info', which is not surprising as the data is not present. It does not appear that Windows 10 has the ability to store photo location since there is no field for it in the file properties.If there is a place to find

    Metadata in Windows 10 photo viewer missing?

    Last year I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10. I placed a whole bunch of photos on a thumb drive that I had saved from the pictures folder in Win 7. I am in the process of going through the photos now on Windows 10 and noticed that notes I had wrote in the metadata for each photo seem to be missing. I clicked on 'file information' but I don't see the notes, just the file name, and things like file size, dimensions, device, file path, etc. But in photo files on Win 7, I remember there were spaces in the metadata I filled in to add additional info about each picture (e.g. this is grandfather's house in 1933 in a small town, etc).

    The photo viewer in Win 10 is different, so maybe I'm just not finding the right menu to look under? I hope I haven't lost the original metadata I filled in.

    The default would be the Photos app. (A Store UWP app).

    The old Photoviewer program which a number like can be made available by either using the relevant tenforums tutorial

    Metadata in Windows 10 photo viewer missing?

    Not sure to which photo viewer you're referring... there's this one which can be resurrected- here it shows a view of file explorer showing that Comments field in 3 places:
