Windows 10: Downloaded Software not opening on Win 10

Hi,
I am not a very tech-savvy person. I need your help. I installed a software for my magnetometer on my laptop. (A magnetometer is an instrument for geophysical purposes) I downloaded the software from the equipment manufacturer's site (GEMLinkplus Software for Magnetometers and Gradiometers - Gem Systems ) Unfortunately, the software is not working on my laptop. The installation was successful but I can't open it. I am unsure if it is non-compatible on windows 10 or if it is any other problem? I need help to fix this.
FYI, I use DELL Inspiron, Intel Core i3, 4 GB RAM.

DirectX End-User Runtime meltdown

Youre trying to install the wrong Direct X software..Win 10 most likely doesnt need older versions

of Direct X,but it probably would/might be ok,the version youre looking for is: Direct X 2010

redistributable,download it,create a new folder (2010 Direct X) or similiar,open download,browse

to youre new folder for extraction,once done,open new,scroll down to the .exe file,R.click open

it runs auto..However,its 2010 software,Win 10 is 2015-newer software.

Either way,Direct X probably isnt at fault,youre pc hardware software/drivers might need installation,

go to pc mfg,or hardware mfg (intel-amd,etc) for chipset downloads,intel has a updater utility...

Try going to youre pc mfg,or pc hardware mfg web/downloads/Win 10/chipset software-drivers.Locate the

download for youre pc chipset,download & install.At web site,locate the graphic accelerator software &

install.Usually being Win 10 both sites should offer same..The chipset software configures all pc hardware

devices with the OS.

Also,once thru & restarted pc,open mouse in control-panel,run its test(s)..If problem remains,in device mgr,

scroll to mouse/expand tree,R.click on the device,select "uninstall" once thru,restart pc,Win 10 will reinstall

it on pc restart..

 

The site only lists support up to Windows 7. Right click on the executable and choose "Troubleshoot Compatibility" from the context menu.

 

I did as you said, I tested it and it is not working. I think, It is non-compatible. Does this mean I have to install windows 7 for running it? Is there another way?

 

SB plus Core i3 is pretty decent but 4GB of ram is not the bomb on win 10 x64 but that would be more like 8-12 GB these days *really

Setting aside UWP apps almost any win 7 exe programs should run on the windows 10 exe program side but not everything ofc and professional niche & business management software are repeat new OS compatibility and slow to update offenders........... perhaps a windows 7 OS in a VM or a 40- 50 -100 GB new unallocated NTFS volume (& custom install ) in a dual boot configuration on the same HDD or another HDD it should fly with or without an activation ?*Redface

looking at this image I'm almost thinking this was maybe DOS ,win 3.0 ,win 9x upgraded/re written at some point and or also moved into win 3-4 x NT -2000 NT / XP-NT core -win Vista /7 NT core maybe with legacy resident code or missing xxx NT code keeping it out of windows 10 *sarc

 

Is the program being blocked by your antivirus? I have Kaspersky antivirus which will block unknown programs from launching unless I enable them.

 

I am using Bit defender antivirus. I am not sure if it is blocking the program. I have to check.

 

FWIW maybe that should have been step 2 *sarc

 

Well before you do something so drastic I would contact the support of the software vendor and see what they say.

 

Is the device connected when you try to open it or are you just trying to open the software?

I would suspect you may need drivers for the USB to Serial Adaptor too, which I see mentioned on the Gemlink Site you Linked to...
