Dell Unveils the Precision M2800 Mobile Workstation

Dell today introduced a new mobile workstation category with the Dell Precision M2800, a 15-inch mobile workstation offering ISV-certified and optimized performance and dependability at a breakthrough price. Starting at $1,199, the lowest price available for 15-inch mobile workstation, the Dell Precision M2800 helps to bridge the gap between business-class laptops and mobile workstations by offering an affordable ISV-certified system with professional graphics and processors. Engineers, designers and video editors now have access to the right tool to perform their critical functions with the speed, accuracy and reliability of a Dell Precision workstation.

Offering workstation-class performance in a mobile form factor, the Dell Precision M2800 can be configured with fourth-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, AMD FirePro W4170M graphics with 2 GB of dedicated GDDR5 video memory, up to 16 GB of system memory and up to 1 TB of storage to run graphic and data intensive workloads seamlessly in the office or with clients on-site. Delivering amazing clarity for detailed work, the Dell Precision M2800 comes with a 15.6-inch UltraSharp display available in HD or FHD (1920 x 1080), external multi-monitor support and docking compatibility to simplify the transition from the road to a desk-based workspace.

To maximize performance of CAD, digital content creation and editing software, the M2800 will be ISV-certified for leading applications such as Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor and Revit, Dassault Systèmes Solidworks, PTC Creo, among others. Dell Precision 7730 Freezes when waking up from sleep after updates

Its hard to know which driver to install since we dont know what device the driver is for that wont load.

It looks like Windows is suggesting a BIOS update there, the Dell Firmware. I dont know if I would install that one. Go to Dell's website and look for a new BIOS update for your model. Install it if there is one. I have a Precision 3520. Updating the BIOS on these is pretty fool proof. Just make sure the system is plugged in when you do it.

After that, I would download IOBit Driver Booster and let it update all your drivers. I use the pro version on my system and it has always worked very well for me.

Do you use Dell Command Update on your system? If you dont, I recommend it. It will help keep your drivers and BIOS updated. You can set it to check for updates weekly, monthly, or even daily if desired. I have it check weekly.

Also, if you decide to run the driver booster, post a screenshot of the suggested updates before you do so. Id be interested to see what it wants to update.

 

Dell Precision 5820 no network connection

Hello together,

we have some Dell Precision 5820 clients, that we must migrate to Windows 10.

We are installing our clients with a unattended.xml file and joining directly during the unattend phase to our domain. The Windows PE phase are working very fine, the Windows installation and Domain Join also. But when there is coming the first logon screen,
the client have no network connection.

We have also some other 1.000 Dell clients (other models), that have not the problem. This is only on all Dell Precision 5820 clients.

When is working:

• When we let the client join a workgroup, then the client have a network connection. When we switch to the domain, the network is working also. If we rebooting 3 -5 the client, we have again our problem.
• Reboot the client with no network cabel and plug in few seconds later, after the client is started, the cabel. The client will become a IP address.
• The IP address will receive from our DHCP server.

I have testet the following steps, but nothing from there fixed the problem.

• Testet the original Intel network driver
• The latest Dell network driver
• Domain Join to a extra OU in the AD, with block inheritance GPO
• Disabled some speed options in the BIOS for performance (only 1 core, disable Intel SpeedStep)
• Reservation on the DHCP server
• Fixed IP address
• Plugin the Client to a DSL AVM FritzBox, but the same problem to receive a address via DHCP.
• Analysed on the client via Wireshard, there is only a DHCP discover.

Any suggestions what we can analyse?
