Windows 10: Downloading apps and other programmes on new Window 10 laptop

Why can't I install/download apps or programmes (e.g Chrome or printer software or my bank software) on my new laptop.


I get a message that suggests I don't need this or that but to go to Microsoft store if I really want to install apps. This store just seems to be wanting to sell me other products. Surely this is an infringement of my rights. I've tried Microsoft chat but didn't get an agent after waiting two hours. Please advise if there is some setting I need to change on this Lenovo. thanks

Where are my programmes listed using Windows 10

I have just bought a new laptop with windows 10 and have downloaded various programmes. Where are they ?!

I can't find a list of them anywhere. They are not added to those daft boxes on the front screen and they are not in the list when I click on the Start button, just some are listed but not many and in an order I don't like, last purchased then frequently
used (not) and who wants 'suggestion for paid programmes' ?)

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
