Hi I was using the Xbox app last night to download a pc game to cross platform. The download however was only getting 5 mbps tops. I check my task manager and my router which both confirm the p.c. is using over 50 mbps. Upon digging further I find svchost.exe is running in the background and using about 10x the network that my download is getting. Looking into what the .exe is doing, it is calling it a distruption optimization, and stopping it halts my download. Has anyone ran into this or found a way to fix it? Considering deleting the Xbox app and redownloading it because they seem to be tie

    Analyzing Svchost processes in Windows

Here's how to track down detailed information about any Svchost.exe process running in Windows 7/8.

    a) You can use the Tasklist command-line tool to learn which services are running in a Svchost.exe. Just run cmd (command prompt) and hit

    Tasklist /svc /fo list

Scroll through the list and find what you need. It's not quite intuitive so you can use third party programs with gui. See below:

    b) You can use svchost viewer. Best utility. Note: to run this under XP you need .Net framework 2.0

    c) Svchost Process Analyzer is another app for that.

    d) And another app called Svchost lookup tool

    e) And it won't hurt if you use Process Explorer and System Explorer.

It's never bad to keep your system under control, plus all these apps are portable no installation is required.

    Where are my downloaded Games?

    Hi Brandon,

Games downloaded from the Microsoft Store website or through the Windows Store app are added in the Xbox app's Game list. To access this, kindly perform the following steps:

    • Select the Start button, then select Xbox.
    • Sign in using the Microsoft account you've used to download the game.
    • Select My games. Games you have on that device will appear there.

If you can't see the game, it may be because the game was not automatically added on your Game list. To add it, proceed with the steps below:

    • Select the Start button, then select Xbox.
    • Sign in using the Microsoft account you've used to download the game.
    • Select My games.
    • Select Add a game from your PC.
    • You'll see a scrollable list of all Win32 games and programs that have
      Start
menu shortcuts. From the list, find Solitaire HD and add it to your
My games menu so you can quickly browse for and launch the game.
    • Once you've selected your choices, select Add selected games at the bottom of the pop-up window.

Don't forget to notify us with the results. We'd be glad to further assist you.
