Windows 10: Downloading Win11 to a USB Jump Drive

Hey there,I know once upon a time it was possible to download Windows and store it on a USB jump drive in case a reinstall was needed or whatever. I'm not sure that's a thing at this point. If this is still something that is possible to do how would I go about doing it? I found a jump drive with Windows on it; I assume it's Win11 but I'm really not sure. I thought I should update it as it is fairly old. And if this is no longer possible I'd like to know that as well.Thanks much!

Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

• Did you check if similar issue persists on connecting other jump drives on the computer?
• Did you make any other changes apart from formatting the jump drive to
  exFat format prior to the issue?

You might be facing the above issue due to the Read only option selected on the jump drive connected to the PC.

I suggest you to check if similar issue persists on connecting other USB drives on the PC. If the issue does not persist, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Connect the jump drive to the computer and open File explorer by pressing
  Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard.
• Click on This PC from the left side panel of the window and right click on the jump drive shown under
  Disks & Drives.
• Select Properties from the context menu and uncheck
  Read only if marked.
• Click on Yes when the option saying Apply changes to subfolders and files writing to this folder pops.
• Click on Apply and OK on the same window.
• Close the window, check if the changes are effective by unplugging and re-plugging the jump drive on the computer.

If the issue persists, is suggest you to contact the jump drive manufacturer’s support for further assistance.

Update Win11 from a bootable USB drive

I have a Dell Inspiron 14 5000 series laptop. It was having problems installing a Win11 update and Dell Support assist would not install. Frustrated, I reset the SSD using DISKPART > Clean. I have reinitialized and reformatted the SSD to contain a single partition.

I downloaded the Windows 11 ISO file and put it on a USB drive made bootable using RUFUS.

As far as I can tell, there is absolutely NO provision in the laptop BIOS to boot from a USB device.

Been all over the internet trying to figure out how to reload Win11 from the USB drive, but have come up empty.

Does anyone know how to reinstall Win11 on an Inspiron 5000 from a bootable USB drive?

To address this concern, we suggest that you follow these steps on how to turn off the Jump Lists on Windows 10:

• Go to Start menu, search Settings, then press
  Enter.
• Click Personalization.
• Select Start.
• Turn off the Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or taskbar.
