Windows 10: DP/HDMI Display Signal Randomly is Lost

I have spent days trying to troubleshoot this issue and am at my wits end with it. I have tried EVERYTHING i can find. Do you have the latest drivers installed for the graphics card?

If new drivers or reloading graphics card drivers doesn't fix it, the next thing I would suggest is to try the display port to HDMI adapter a couple of us have suggested already with a regular HDMI cable. If your cable is bad or you just need an adapter because for some reason a straight cable won't work - spending $20 on the adapter is a lot cheaper than new graphics card. I just installed my GTX 970 card a week ago and I had plenty of HDMI cables so that is why I went with the adapter instead of buying a new display port to hdmi cable.

just to understand some constraints:

• HDMI is electrically compatible with DVI
• DP outputs from most PCs have an HDMI compatibility mode that allows for:
  • DP-to-HDMI passive adapters [passive means it just uses wiring (no ICs) between the connectors]
  • DP-to-DVI passive adapters
• In contrast, the USB Type-C output on the Lumia 950XL/950 phone and the DP output on the Display Dock do not have HDMI compatibility mode. To drive HDMI, DVI (or VGA), they require active adapters incorporating bridge ICs. The tipoff is usually that such
  an adapter costs $20-$40 instead of ~$10 for a passive adapter. There’s no good way to tell active versus passive other than by part # and spec.

 

Continuum over DisplayPort - No signal

I recently bought the HD-500 display dock for my Lumia 950. Now I have encountered an issue with connecting the phone to native DisplayPort screen (1920x1080). When connected, the phone recognizes the display including model number and starts the Continuum
application. However there is no signal going to the display. I tried to connect it to other display (same model) with no result. Both displays were connected to phone using standard DP >DP cables and are working well with laptop over same DP connection. The
dock is working correctly over HDMI even with same displays via HDMI >DVI adapter as the displays have both DP and DVI connectors.

Using HDMI instead of DP will not solve my problem because of the setup I have and I want to know why the DP connection isn't working anyway because it should.
