  1. DPC Latency woes - Windows 10 audio recording

    Hello,

As an introduction, I am nearly at my wit's end with this DPC Latency issue on my Windows 10 PC. I mainly notice this issue when recording or playing back audio within Reaper, my DAW of choice, using a Pre-Sonus Audiobox USB. What seems to be at random, I will have brief periods of audio drop-outs or stuttering; usually between 5 - 20 seconds at most. As you can imagine, this is incredibly frustrating when trying to record, especially when you're in the middle of a good take and the problem occurs. I never noticed this issue on my old Windows 7 potato of a laptop, but after a certain point in time (after the Windows 10 update that many mention as the culprit, I'm assuming) I've been plagued by this issue.. I've searched through countless other forum posts for similar issues and potential fixes, and have tried a multitude of solutions that seemed to work for others. However, the only thing that seems to change for me is the driver(s) causing the DPC issues during any given test with Latency Mon.

I'm not entirely sure what all pertinent information I should provide, but I can try and provide whatever information is needed, if necessary. I will try and list the things I have tried thus far, but I may forget to include everything.

    1. Made sure my Power Plan was set to High Performance, and adjusted the CPU settings to max performance.
    2. Disabled the option for my computer to put my USB hubs to sleep.
    3. Disabled dynamic ticking and upgraded my graphics card's drivers
    4. Rolled back my SATA driver to the default Microsoft driver
    5. Disabled AMD Cool and Quiet in my BIOS (along with tweaking a few other options that I saw suggested in a forum; but I don't remember exactly what they were. I could try and go back and find what I tweaked, if needed)
    6. Changed my PCI Latency Timer in my BIOS from 32 (default) to 192 (the 4th of 8 options) …. Should this be set back to 32?
    7. Disabled Internet Protocol v6, disabled Windows Defender Firewall, and disabled energy efficient ethernet on IPv4
    8. Repaired corrupted files via "sfc /scannow"
    9. Installed Samsung Magician for my SSD (my boot drive) and activated Rapid Mode
    10. Uninstalled Bonjour from my PC

A couple of things I’ve seen while typing this post that I will go ahead and try and report back:

    1. Updating my chipset drivers

    2. Update my ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 drivers ( since one of the main issues reported by Latency Mon is usbport.sys ; however, this spike comes from both my USB 1.1 / 2.0 and USB 3.0/3.1 drivers. It also occurs with my USB audio interface unplugged ) I cannot find the other USB drivers on MSI’s site…. Is there a way to update them as well?

    3. (Should I try updating my BIOS as well?)

The frustrating thing is, I’ve been getting different results and different problem drivers causing spikes throughout all of my Latency Mon tests. I’m sure the solutions I’ve tried have affected this, but I’m unsure how. Any help on FINALLY resolving this mind-numbing issue would be incredibly appreciated.

In the comments below are two different Latency Mon text reports and screenshots.

I can run further tests under more specific cirumstances, if requested.

  2. High DPC latency

I use my Dell XPS for recording and live playback but the system suffers from high DPC latency caused by ACPI driver.

I removed Dell audio drivers and installed those from RealTek with no avail. Latency is an issue because I need this computer for live recording. Please your advice.

  3. High DPC latency from acpi.sys causing audio clicks and pops

Hi thanks, yes I did go through all of those articles and have gone through their recommended actions in an attempt to resolve this (summarized in my list of things I've tried) as well as basic sound functionality as you mention. I have started several
times from a clean Windows 10 install, with various builds tried. This is a more a more fundamental issue with the way that ACPI.sys impacts DPC latency on essentially all Windows notebooks. This impacts users of audio recording software, high-end gamers,
and other users with latency-sensitive applications.

  4. DPC Latency woes - Windows 10 audio recording

Audio stuttering/buzzing and storport.sys high dpc latency

I've only had this audio issue for a few weeks already after I did a custom windows 10 install bc of a previous problem. I've also posted twice about this but no one has helped me yet. I'll post the following possible solutions and suggestions that
I've already done to avoid repeated answers

I did: audio troubleshooter, uninstalled then reinstalled audio drivers, disabled audio enhancements and tried different audio quality under the advanced tab.

After more searching online I tried using DPC Latency Checker (and then LatencyMon to be more detailed) since I read that having high dpc latency can cause problems with real time audio among other things. Apparently
storport.sys is the problem? I literally just have basic knowledge about anything regarding this kind of stuff and I don't have any clue on how to fix this so I just hope someone can help me and give me steps by steps suggestions on how I can solve this. my
audio has just been driving me crazy with those stuttering sounds and I don't want it to worsen.

I would also like to know if having
    Ricoh SD/MMC Host Controller
and nothing else aside from that, under
    IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
, is okay and won't cause problems?

please, I hope someone can help and answer this time around!
