Windows 10: DPC_Watchdog_Violation

My laptop has started freezing, it started a couple of days ago and has happen around 5 or 6 times. It usually seems to happen while I'm browsing the web, at most I might have Word and the calculator open, but nothing else.


Around half of the times this has happened, I've eventually hit control, alt, delete and everything has been fine. On 2 occasions it has gone to the BSOD and the error code given is DPC_Watchdog_Violation


The first time it happened (14th April 19) I googled the code and ran through some checks, I checked for updates, ran a hard disk check and xxx and nothing came up.


The only significant change that I've made to the system is to remove and reinstall Office 365, I kept getting an error message that my account was not verified and I had previously had a work copy of Office on my machine before purchasing my own licence. Removing existing copies of Office and reinstalling was suggested as the fix and this has worked for the Office 365 error message.


I have gone through my history and it looks like the BSOD and stopcode have only appeared since I reinstalled Office 365, however the freezing was happening before this. After the most recent instance of the error code appeared (16th April 19) I've downloaded the minidump files and also the error logs on the 14th and 16th April.

Blue screen: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

After a recent updating, my machine has blue screen every 5 - 10 minutes.

The error code is DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

I saw another post here which suggest to use "iastor.sys". But I don't have that in the driver list. Mine is storahci.sys.

The DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION blue screen error can be caused by a variety of hardware, firmware, driver, or software issues. Now, you mentioned that you already changed the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers to standard. Did you update the driver as well? And also,
are you getting the same blue screen error when you play other games? Or is it only occurring when you play a particular game?
