  1. DPI Setting changes in game - MW3

My mouse DPI has started to be effected within Modern Warfare 3. Whilst in game I hear a noise that I have an alert to an app or something which I expect to pop up on the screen, but there is nothing to reference why the DPI settings are changing in game. The moment it happens, I lose control of the mouse for a second and then the movement in the game has gone. I have to press the button on the DPI settings to go back to normal. Its happening often in each game and its ruining the gameplay. At the same time the mouse wheel is also used for changing weapon in game. The change results in my guns

    :)

Can't change high DPI settings for a game

I always use the Application option for games. System or System Advanced for programs that have too small a Window for

my 2560x1440 monitor resolution (eg- Logitech Gaming Software).

I have never needed to use the Program DPI option at the top of that Window, but I do use 130 in the Display > Custom Scaling

option as shown in Greg's second video link to increase desktop icon\text size.

I also avoid using compatibility with an older version of Windows unless it actually helps launch games that won't launch otherwise.

It is not common, but doing so when not necessary has been known to cause issues with some games.

I have yet to find using Win7\8 beneficial to running any game (never say never though). I have found it necessary to use

XP sp2 or Vista sp1 on a small number of my older games, but many games as far back as 2004 will still run with no compatibility option

other than the DPI option, which is generally only necessary with games that are restricted to using low resolutions with a 4:3 aspect ratio

(using resolutions higher than 1440 may also make using this option necessary with some games).

If you are using the Full Screen scaling option in your graphics cards settings try using the Aspect Ratio (Nvidia's terms).

This will force old 4:3 aspect ratio games to run with black side borders, but will also scale games with wide screen resolutions properly.

I have also come across a few games that don't scale up the in game text when using 4K resolution (maybe a bit lower as well),

even when using the High DPI setting option.

With these games I have to either use a lower res or strain to read the games text (eg- Half Life 2).
