    Drag and drop not working to upload from PC to OneDrive for example


    In Windows 11, it doesn't appear possible to drag and drop a file from File Explorer to a OneDrive folder in Microsoft Edge any more when both applications are in full screen.I would expect to be able to be able to right-click and hold a file, drag it to the bottom of the screen, hover over the Edge icon where my OneDrive folder is open in a tab and drop it to upload.This is very disappointing as I tend to use applications in full screen. This method will work if not in full screen, but my recollection is that this functionality was quite standard in Windows 10.

    Cannot Drag and Drop into Edge

    • I have been on Win 10 and Edge since June 2016.
    • I was able to drag and drop files in a SP2013 document library until today.
    • I tried it with OneDrive with the same result. I can no longer drag and drop to upload files.

    Repeat: Drag and drop worked in my SharePoint 2013 libraries and OneDrive until today.

    Was there a recent Win 10 or Edge update that may have broken drag and drop?

    Hi Charles,

    the steps you suggested didn't work for me but, when pressing the escape key it somehow expanded the drive and by using drag and drop to the single file in the list worked.

    In the past I could drag and drop multiple folders onto the drive on the network computer(s). Doing it on individual folders will take far too long and time consuming and is not an option.

    Microsoft should be able to identify what is blocking it and issue a fix.

    My machine is multi boot so tomorrow I will try with Windows 7.

    Large upload to Onedrive

    The first step is to purchase or otherwise have that much free space in OneDrive.

    The second step is to make sure that no individual file is larger than 10 GB since that is OneDrive's limit for a single file. (OneDrive for Business has a larger cap.)

    The third step is to simply drag and drop your files onto the OneDrive interface. That much data will take several days to upload.
