Windows 10: Drag and drop not working.

Hi, I've had this problem for a few days now. i cant drag and drop files in file explorer or in FL studio everything else works and opens fine but i just cant drag and drop files into places. i don't think its a mouse driver issue or anything since i can drag and drop icons and tabs across my screen, and i don't know what could've caused it since it just randomly happened when i turned my pc on one day but the night before that it all was working properly and it couldn't have been a corrupted windows update because i had no updates available at the time and auto update is off

the steps you suggested didn't work for me but, when pressing the escape key it somehow expanded the drive and by using drag and drop to the single file in the list worked.

In the past I could drag and drop multiple folders onto the drive on the network computer(s). Doing it on individual folders will take far too long and time consuming and is not an option.

Microsoft should be able to identify what is blocking it and issue a fix.

My machine is multi boot so tomorrow I will try with Windows 7.

The latest build of Windows 11 does support drag and drop to some degree. To answer your specific scenarios:

1. Drag and drop app to the taskbar. This is possible but the step to do so is a bit tricky. You need to find the app from Start > All Apps. You can NOT find the app from search result.

2. Drag and drop a file to an app. This really depends. Photo files actually don't work for Photo app for example, but Word document files can work with Word. This is a limitation and definitely is an area that still need some work from Microsoft.

Let me know if you can drag and drop app from the All Apps list. If not, let me know the actual build number of your Windows 11. You can get that by typing winver in the search on the taskbar and hit enter. It is the number that starts with 1904x.xxxxx Thanks!
