Windows 10: Drag and drop with finger or Microsoft surface pen not working in Chrome, IE, or Edge

I just noticed today that the drag and drop function with the surface pen or finger doesn’t work within the web browsers anymore. I tried Chrome and IE and Edge. With Chrome, I did go to the flags page and changed the settings to no avail. This is very frustrating, and I cant find any solutions online.

Surface Book Touchpad - Drag & Drop not working in Outlook 2016

Hi everyone,

I'm a proud owner of the Surface Book with Redstone anniversary update. Works great, except for using the Toucpad for Drag & Drop:

clicking, holding the finger down and moving it before lifting it again works like expected to perform a Drag & Drop in most APps - just not in Outlook 2016 where I Need it most to move my email to Folders on the left.

Drag & Drop via the Touchpad

- works in OneNote 2016 + Word 2016 to move text

- works in Outlook 2010 to move emails

- does NOT work in Outlook 2016

If I use the Surface Pen instead, dragging with the Pen works in Outlook 2016. Also Ctrl+Shift+V works to move the mails via Keyboard. So it seems like only the
dragging via the Touchpad in Outlook 2016 does not work, while it works in Outlook via the Pen and in every other App with the Touchpad...

Any ideas how to solve this?

Cannot Drag and Drop into Edge

Some of the copy-and-pasted responses across this website from Microsoft Support are an embarrassment. The lack of drag and drop has nothing to do with corrupted system files, and the resolution steps posted by the Support Engineer will waste customers'
time sending them on a wild goose chase. For now, Microsoft Edge simply does not support drag and drop (!) - see

Update: I've found a statement from Microsoft: "Fixes
for this issue are being treated with top priority and are in development to ship in a future update. We'll provide updates on the timeline as we know more."

 

Cannot Drag and Drop into Edge

• I have been on Win 10 and Edge since June 2016.
• I was able to drag and drop files in a SP2013 document library until today.
• I tried it with OneDrive with the same result. I can no longer drag and drop to upload files.

Repeat: Drag and drop worked in my SharePoint 2013 libraries and OneDrive until today.

Was there a recent Win 10 or Edge update that may have broken drag and drop?
