Windows 10: Dragon 13.6 not recognising my microphone

I have been using Dragon 13.6 software for some time and have just purchased a new microphone setup. The software is not able to find my microphone even though the microphone is working perfectly for Zoom meetings and also with the Microsoft sound recording app. I have a good level of computer literacy and have fully troubleshooted the problem. I have read and applied all the steps in Nuance's "Troubleshooting your microphone" to no avail. The difficulty seems to be exclusively related to Dragon. Hi Michael,

One of the possible cause to this issue is compatibility conflict. Some user reports that the latest version of Dragon 13 doesn't require Compatibility mode in order to run correctly. We suggest turning off Compatibility mode by following the steps below:

• Locate Dragon 13 shortcut and right click it.
• Select Properties from the list.
• Click on Compatibility tab and locate Run this program in compatibility mode for and uncheck it.
• Click OK to save the changes and try running the application again.

Thanks for your suggestions, but no joy. The Compatibility facility was already unchecked.

Dragon 13 is fully installed on Windows 10, am able to do a normal microphone test, and even saw speech to text appear in a Dragon test window. But no sound seems to get through to Dragon when I try to use it, thus no text appears in Word, email, or anything
else. I suspect my Realtek sound card may be the culprit, since I came across warnings somewhere. Maddening.
