Probably the millionth time someone has had this problem and its still a mess so here we go lol

Title sums it up. My understanding was I had a digital activation key. I found the guides for this kind of reactivation and thought I did everything I was supposed to do but ran into issues when reactivating after installing a new mobo among other parts. The system was telling me the activation was already used on the old hardware and I couldnt find any way to remove that activation. In hindsight I gather that I was supposed to somehow remove the activation while still using the old hardware, before the actual upgrade, but I didnt realize that. Instead I removed the old hardware from the account which apparently just de-links it I assumed it would free up the license, similar to how Malware bytes Pro works. because that would be the most easy and intuitive approach to this issue...but I guess thats too easy for ms.

So now I'm stuck. I tired calling support in the late spring and they were impossible to get through. I got a support ticket eventually and was supposed to get a call back but got emails saying it was closed when they never followed up. I tried calling tonight and got a guy who made me click through their trouble shooter which naturally doesnt work, then told me I had to have a windows 7 product key, proof of purchase, or I was sol.

Unfortunately I have no idea where said key was. thought I had it written down digitally somewhere but I cant find it now. Pretty sure I didnt have it back in the spring either, but cant remember what conversations I had with support back then so I have no idea if I had it or just called a different number or what because my understanding was that they could see that you used to have the activation linked and thus that you didnt need the key anymore so no idea why I got further back then than now.

So do I have any options beyond ignoring activation indefinitely or blowing money on another key? Is there a different tech support I could call that would be able to actually look at my MS account, or can they not actually see any of that history? I've found keys online for far more reasonable prices than direct so I guess I have decent options if MS ever changes how unactivated installations work, but I'd rather not have to worry about that.

PS sorry for the long post. I'm a little irritated that this process is so unnecessarily cumbersome.

    :)

is hardware OK (Win 7) for upgrade to windows 10

I think in one of the other PC with win 7 or win 8.1 I run media creators tools and in some step prompt/found graphics card not supported... for win 10. I didn't found alone reading specs of win 10, but the tool says me... after changed graphics card the tool said all OK and continued OK with upgrade... That I ask to reach this step in this current PC - win 7 - must be all OK for the upgrade? Or must continue to upgrade to show this?
    and got to point

    • UPGRADE this PC now
    • Create media(DVD, USB stick, ISO)
is hardware OK (Win 7) for an upgrade to windows 10 for this PC???

From Why can't I activate Windows?

If you upgraded to Windows 10 for free and ended up in a non-activated state, try following these steps:

    • Go to Start
Dreaded Windows 10 Activation Issues after hardware change after free upgrade from 7 [IMG]
, then select Settings > Update & security > Activation.
    • Select Go to Store, and check to see if a valid license is available for your device. If a license isn't available, you'll need to buy Windows from the Store.

      Note
      • This only applies if you haven't made changes to the hardware for your device.

or you could hack it with a crack but please note this is always risky and you don't know what's in the hack

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
