    extend c drive storage space

Hi, I'm , an Independent Advisor.

Disk Management is a Windows built-in tool that supports to increase partition size with its "Extend Volume" feature. However, the program has some limitations in increasing disk space:

    - Extend Volume only works on NTFS and RAW partition. FAT32 and other file systems are not supported.

    - The Extend Volume will grey out if there is no adjacent unallocated space behind the target partition.

So, the ways to increasing C drive with or without adjacent unallocated space are different. Open the Disk Management, and follow the right tutorials listed below to extend the local disk C drive on your own now:

#1. Increase C Drive Space with Adjacent Unallocated Space

Step 1. Right-click This PC/My Computer, click "Manage", select "Disk Management" under Storage.

Step 2. Locate and right-click on the local disk C drive, and choose "Extend Volume".

Step 3. Set and add more space to your system C drive and click "Next" to continue.

Step 4. Click "Finish" to complete the process.

Note that if that unallocated space on your system disk is not behind the C drive, you can't extend C drive in Disk Management.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you further!

Storage Spaces Disappears After Replacing Boot Drive

My Win 10 Pro system has eight physical disks: one boot drive, one CD-ROM, and six HDDs in a Storage Spaces array. Everything works fine.

The boot drive was getting full, so I replaced it with another drive with twice the capacity. Both drives are SSDs, and I "cloned" the old disk to the new using Macrium Reflect 7 software. The new drive boots Windows just fine, but it never recognizes the Storage Spaces drive array. It shows it as one empty drive with 0 bytes used, the correct drive letter (E:\), the correct capacity (approx. 10TB), but no name assigned to it.

Windows Device Manager says E: is RAW, not ReFS or even NTFS.

Windows Task Manger's Performance tab shows that disk E: is 90% busy all the time. It's all read transactions, no writes. I've let this run for almost 24 hours and it's still 90% busy, and Windows still doesn't recognize the Storage Spaces array or its contents.

When I shut down and re-install the original boot drive, everything goes back to normal. Drive E: is once again recognized as a 10TB Storage Spaces array and all of its contents are valid. Swapping back again to the replacement boot drive repeats the above behavior.

    Any suggestions?
