Windows 10: Drive name changed by printer install - cant revert.

After installing a printer driver HP now my main drive C: appears in explorer as some wierd name similar to printer driver nameI tried renaming it using Explorer r-click rename and it allows me to in that box but soon as I hit enter it returns to wrong nameIn command prompt I type "Vol" and it gives me C:\In Computer management its C:\If I goto its properties in C in the General tab its name has been changed to MAINI have restarted since install - same problem.Please help - its very confusing.Windows 11 pro but this happened on my windows 10 pro as well.Thanks

Win10 - how to change printer displayed name?

Key item:

In step 2, right click on the printer you want to rename, then choose "PRINTER PROPERTIES" RATHER THAN "PROPERTIES".

For some reason, "Printer - right click - Properties" only displays the properties while "Printer - right click - Printer Properties" allows the user to change some properties, such as the name.

(Yes, these are different options with similar names when you right click on your "printer". It took me multiple tries before I figured out that there were two and that they were different.)

1) Search for, and open, Control Panel
2) Under Hardware and Sound, press: View devices and printers
3) Right click on the printer, and press: Printer properties
4) From here you can rename the printer.
That's how I could rename my printer. Hopefully that works for you too.

• Know what you want your new name to be before you request a name change.
