  1. Driver causing a BSOD, can I remove it?

    Hi guys,

First off, I'd like to apologize if I may be posting in the incorrect section, as I wasn't sure what to classify this under.

I've been getting some BSODs with the same error message: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.
I looked into the issue by examining the minidump in WinDbg, and found a driver called bcmw163a.sys causing the issue.

I would like to know if it is safe to remove this driver, and find out what the driver is.

    Any help is appreciated *Smile

    :)

  2. BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL random crashes and freezes

Yes, if no BSODs persist, no need to do anything.

Sometimes(3 out of 5), reinstalling the drivers does not remove the corrupt driver which can cause the crash again. That is why I recommend removing the existing driver completely do be sure of. However, if you have reinstalled it and it works OK, no further
action is required until BSOD appears which hopefully should not be.

  3. PC Stuck on BSOD second reboot after successful install of the Windows 10 Anniversay Update

That's good news that you have identified the driver causing the BSOD. If you can reliably reproduce or get the BSOD at the moment, if it were me I'd uninstall the creative drivers and remove the device just temporarily, just to be 100% sure it is the offending
    driver.

Apart from that, I guess all you can do is contact Creative Re: the blue screen, hopefully they will be able to release an update for you soon that fixes your issue.

Soundcards seem to cause BSOD a lot - I have an expensive soundcard by prismsound and I have had BSOD with it a lot with Windows 10..

Anyway, hope you get a driver fix soon!

    Regards,

    Justin

Driver causing a BSOD, can I remove it?

A little web searching (Bing worked better than Google, oddly enough) suggests that it's a driver for a Broadcom WiFi adapter. Got one of those?

(I would have checked your motherboard specs, but Asus makes a number of X99 boards, if that's the one in question.)

I would do a memory test - Usually page fault means bad memory ..

  6. I was remiss in mentioning that I am using the secondary machine I use (a cruddy Alienware), my main PC (with the X99 mobo) has no issues... And it indeed, the secondary machine has a Broadcom Wireless Adapter

So what do I do then? Disable it in Device Manager?

You could disable it in the BIOS setup if you're not using it.

If you are using it, there may be better drivers available.
